Civil War mug shots etc.
My wife and i started watching Ken Burns classic Civil War series and i realized the the people back then looked a lot different than we do. They seem very intense and are very fun to draw.

Aliens
I haven't had the time to post in a while. Here are some recent sketches. This is a race of aliens I am developing for a comic book. There isn't too much exciting or new about them. I want them to look kind of average for aliens.

"S" is for Stephens
It's an epidemic! Everyone is leaving their folder out now! This is super fun though and the students are digging it.

Patrick didn't leave his folder out but he requested a zombie toting and AK-47 and his attendance was good so this was his reward.

Zombie Time!
I am doing zombie portraits for kids again. This time they are tied to attendance. Two full weeks without a missed day earns them one of these 5x7 beauties!

This blog has lain fallow for long enough! In my third period drawing class one of my students left their folder out for me to pick up (the unmitigated GALL of some people!). So I did a little drawing with a speech bubble admonishing him for his negligence. My gentle reprimand had the opposite effect though and everyone started leaving their folders out. Here are a few of the better ones.

Klomantru
This is for our principal's retirement. She is a long time sci fi fan and requested a monster in a ruined city.

This is an oil sketch for a contest that is being put on by one of my favorite blogs. "Painting Stuff to Look Like Stuff" Is run by Kate Stone and David Gluck. It is supper witty, very well written and these two can really paint. It is well worth checking out!

New T shirt design
There are an awful lot of zombie fans here at Chana High School. AMC's Walking Dead is very popular as well as the comic book source material for that series. We also have a "walking class". I know it sounds a little ridiculous but P.E. credits can be a stumbling block for some of our students so we try to come up with options for the kids that don't fit the team sports mold of traditional P.E. classes. Anyhow, In Kirkman's world, zombies are called "walkers" and some of our students thought that would make a funny shirt. I had a handful of kids pose for some reference photos and I did this ink drawing. The lettering is done in Macromedia Freehand. That program doesn't exist anymore but I love it!

zombie in the woods
This was commissioned by one of my students. I will use the proceeds to buy a new toner cartridge at school. The woods are based on the woods behind our campus. I might do a little more work on the trees. it might look nice if they had a little more moss.
